Use eggs and French toast to create a special owl breakfast for your little loved ones on Valentine's or any other day.
Ingredients
  • 1 egg
  • 1-2 Tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 2 slices Dave’s Killer bread, with the side edges trimmed to look roughly like an owl
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 bacon slices
  • 4 pear slices
  • Blueberries and cranberries, optional
  • Oranges, sliced in thin rounds and separated into triangles
  • Raspberry jam
Instructions
  1. To make the French toast, mix 1 egg, the milk, vanilla and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
  2. Dip each slice of trimmed bread into the egg mixture and coat both sides.
  3. Heat a griddle over medium-high heat and lightly coat with butter.
  4. Cook the French toast until golden brown on each side.
  5. Cook the bacon in the microwave, on the stovetop or under the broiler in the oven.
  6. Fry the eggs over medium heat, being careful to leave the egg yolks intact.
  7. To assemble the owl, trim the eggs with a biscuit cutter or a knife to be cut in circles around the yolks.
  8. Place the over-easy eggs on the French toast for the owl eyes.
  9. Arrange the orange slice triangles on the sides for the wing feathers.
  10. Spread the raspberry jam in a heart on the owl’s chest (or for exact lines, place a mini heart cookie cutter in the center of the owl and fill it with jam, removing the cookie cutter to leave a jam heart).
  11. Place a strip of cooked bacon underneath the owl as the tree branch.
  12. Arrange the pear slices and berries at the end of the bacon as the foliage and berries of the tree.
