Homemade applesauce is easy to make and so much better than the stuff you buy at the store. Plus when you make it yourself you can control how much sugar is added.
Ingredients
  • Apples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
  • Water
  • Sugar, to taste
Instructions
  1. Place the apple chunks in a large pot and add roughly ¼-inch of water.
  2. Bring the water to a boil over medium heat and let the apple chunks cook, stirring it occasionally so that the apples don't stick to the pot or burn.
  3. As the apple chunks cook they will become tender and turn into a purée when stirred. Leave the applesauce as chunky as you would like.
  4. Remove the applesauce from the heat and stir in sugar to taste.
  5. Depending on the natural sweetness of the apples, you may only need a small spoonful of sugar.
  6. Transfer the applesauce to a large container and let it cool completely. Store it in a sealed container.
