4th of July Sparkler Burgers

My parents picked up a Wondercandle (which are essentially sparklers made into shapes and numbers) for each of my boys. They chose a “C” for my older son’s initial and a “3” for my younger son who was going to be turning three years old.  I hid the candles {too well} so that my boys wouldn’t mess with them, and then forgot about them until just after my son’s 3rd birthday party.  We had already consumed plenty of cakes and sweets so my mom casually said: Oh, just use it on their burgers or something.

What an excellent idea!  The sparkler burgers were a huge hit with my boys.  And for me, as I watched the candle sparkle and burn it took me back to my childhood and all of the sparklers that we burned through the years on the 4th of July.

There are many different brands of sparkler candles so you can experiment to find your favorite. For our second round, I made sparkler sliders using Wilton’s sparkler candles.  In my opinion, the Wondercandles were better because they burned and sparkled just like the {firecracker} sparkler, whereas the “sparkler candles” acted mostly like regular birthday candles.

***Obviously, this one is for adult supervision. As is the case just about everything, and especially with all fireworks, common sense applies (so don’t let your kiddos hover over the burning sparkler candles)!!***
