Dave’s Killer Bread French Toast
Print This Recipe
We consume lots {and I mean LOTS} of loaves of Dave’s Killer Bread around here. It turns out that Dave’s Killer Bread also makes Killer French toast. Admittedly, French toast is yummy with all sorts of breads and on special occasions it’s nice to use sweet breads {such as banana bread or pumpkin bread}. However, for our weekly routine (and we do go for long stretches where my boys request this healthy French toast every morning) I can feel confident that they are starting the day with a nourishing, nutritious breakfast full of whole grains, protein, omega-3’s, and fiber (not to mention the fact that the bread is organic and non-GMO). Bonus points because it is a quick breakfast to pull together on hectic school day mornings. And even though my boys tend to eat around the crust on their sandwiches, they devour the seed-packed crust on their French toast which makes me one happy mama.
To make my mornings easier I have this down to one serving (two slices) but you can easily increase the amounts for a larger batch. I don’t measure things out any more (which helps to save time in the mornings) because it’s hard to mess up a piece of French toast. I recommend just going light on the milk so that the bread doesn’t get soggy.
- 1 egg
- Splash of milk (1-2 Tbsp)
- Splash of vanilla (1/2 tsp)
- Dash of cinnamon (1/8 tsp)
- 2 slices Dave’s Killer Bread
- Lightly grease a skillet with butter over medium-high heat. Dredge both sides of the bread in the egg mixture and place on the skillet, cooking both sides until they are golden brown.
- Serve warm with pure maple syrup and freezer jam or chia seed jam.
