This Easter I decided that it was time to continue a family tradition and make my family's pineapple meringue tarts in honor of Great Aunt Tadsie. Similar to lemon meringue pie, there is something light and refreshing about these tarts. And the bright yellow color and sunny pineapple flavor make them a perfect spring treat.

The recent April snow flurries got me daydreaming about hot chocolate and the creamy chocolaty flavor of whipped cream melting into my hot cocoa. These bites of swirled cream and chocolate are always my favorites. So, I decided to flavor my homemade whipped cream, incorporating that rich hot chocolate taste into each spoonful of whipped cream.

These little pastry muffins filled with applesauce are like a cross between apple pie and apple cake. They are perfect for a sweet breakfast or an afternoon snack. I like to serve them warm, fresh from the oven.

Homemade applesauce is easy to make and so much better than the stuff you buy at the store. Plus, when you make it yourself you can control how much sugar is added.

There are many variations of caramel, but I love this basic and simple recipe from Simply Recipes. The only ingredients are sugar, heavy cream and butter and the result is a smooth, rich, caramel sauce that is perfect for many things, including caramel apples and ice cream sundaes.

Fruit crisp is one of my favorite desserts because the oatmeal crumble on top adds a sweet crunch to each bite while allowing the fruit to remain the star of the dessert. I use whatever fruit is in season so this time I chose peaches for a grand finale of summer.

Cinnamon and sugar is a simple yet soothing combination. I've always had a weakness for cinnamon and sugar so naturally these soft, chewy, and melt-in-your-mouth cookies are one of my favorites.

This refreshing sorbet highlights blueberries so it was a natural choice for one of the sweets on my Tapas For a Cure menu. You can add the simple sugar syrup to taste, making the blueberry purée mixture as sweet or tart as you would like.

There is something about homemade ice cream which is simply the best. Fortunately, making ice cream is so easy these days. You can stir the ice cream to reach your desired consistency. A word of warning, though: if you take a bite while it's at milkshake or soft-serve consistency, you may never finish stirring it. It's that good.

Strawberry & Blueberry Lemonade Popsicles

Making homemade lemonade with fruit purée was such a hit with my family that the natural progression was to turn the strawberry and blueberry lemonade into popsicles. Making popsicles is easier than you think and allows you to control the amount of sugar in them.
