This time around, I skipped the step of making gyoza altogether and simply made the meat filling, forming it into mini patties for gyoza sliders. When dressed with sauteed mushrooms and red onions, wasabi, pickled ginger and gyoza dipping sauce, these fusion burgers are a unique twist on the classic American burger and they make a tasty appetizer or main course.
When I want to play with food but I don’t have time to really be creative, I pull out the cookie cutters and let my four-year old son do the creating. Simply cutting sandwiches (and quesadillas) into different shapes is a fun project for him and it’s an easy way to make a holiday (or any day’s) meal more festive. Happy Halloween!
Gyro is a sandwich consisting of meat roasted on a vertical spit which is then shaved off in thin slices and wrapped in pita bread, topped with tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki sauce. My gyro-inspired wraps are technically not gyros because the meat is not cooked in the traditional way. However, in my opinion, they taste pretty darn close to an actual gyro. And they are healthier to boot!
One of our favorite meatball meals has become a simple sandwich: meatballs smothered in spaghetti sauce and provolone cheese and sandwiched between a lightly toasted hoagie roll. It’s easy, comforting, healthy and family-friendly.
Turkey burgers have become a favorite in our household. When we recently made them we decided to make sliders. Sliders are the perfect size for kids and they allow the adults to make multiple burgers with a variety of toppings and condiments.
Being from the Pacific Northwest, I am a novice at Barbecue. To be exact, I have hosted and been to countless BBQs and my family would grill just about anything on the BBQ. But as for Barbecue as it is known in the American South {and other parts of the world} I have been completely in the dark.
In this savory croissant, the ham and cheese are baked inside the buttery pastry dough to make a warm, panini-style sandwich that is great for a main meal or as the side to a soup or salad.
Most kids like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, especially if they are cut into fun shapes. Of course, you can make any flavor of sandwich and cut them into any shape. This is a quick and easy snack for parties, adding some substantial food to the treat table while still sticking to the party theme.
Eggplant parmigiana is a great way to get your family to eat eggplant because by dredging it in egg and flour, it becomes soft and tender and the flavor mellows out. In this rendition of eggplant parmesan, I have combined chicken and eggplant parmesan strips into a sandwich. When mixed in with the chicken strips, your family may not even notice that eggplant is included.
These BBQ sandwiches are easy to make and a great way to use up basic ingredients. I often make them for a quick and satisfying lunch but they are also great for dinner, especially when you have a busy night planned.
