Magnum ice cream bars are now available in the United States. As part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program, I received a free box of the classic flavor ice cream bars which consist of silky vanilla bean ice cream covered in a thick layer of Belgian milk chocolate.
I am in no way obligated to write a review of these ice cream bars but I wanted to do so because I thought they were so decadent and delicious. I remember having Magnum ice cream while I lived in Europe and it is a definite treat. Like any other high-end ice cream bar, they are perfect for a special occasion.

I had no idea Magnum was from Europe. those are so delicious! My personal faves are classic, after dinner (like classic but smaller) and Java.Yum!
How would you say they compare to Dove ice cream bars?
I lived in South Africa for a few months and Magnum bars were the BEST treat ever, and seriously the best ice cream bar I had ever had, so it was sad coming back to the US and not having them. I was soooooo excited when I heard these amazing bars are here now!! Yay!
Carolyn, I like both brands but I haven’t done a side-by-side taste test to be able to compare the two in detail. My family is with a large group of people for the holiday weekend so we will get both Magnum and Dove bars and let you know what the consensus is. Thanks for the idea!
Try the caramel ones. We went through a box of those last night. Sinfully good.
Ok, you can twist my arm! 🙂
Carolyn, I did a side-by-side with Dove and Magnum classic bars – vanilla dipped in chocolate. They are both really good and I don’t know that I would have noticed big differences if tasted separately. The result for the side-by-side: I liked the Magnum better than the Dove. The Dove had a very clean, simple vanilla flavor. The Magnum bar had a richer and more complex flavor. I discovered that ice cream bar tasting wouldn’t be a bad profession! 😉
