Itsy Bitsy Foodies turned 3 and I chose to celebrate with {Happy Birthday} Cake Batter Ice Cream. The best part about homemade cake batter ice cream is that you can control the sweetness and intensity of cake flavor by adding your favorite cake batter/cake mix to taste.
Summer is lingering, providing us with beautiful warm days, but as of today I can say that fall is finally in the air, bringing with it fall cravings {enter sweet potatoes and maple pecans}. It's the perfect equation for an autumn ice cream. Although it's worth saying that I've been making this ice cream for over a year now and it has been a family favorite in every season of the year.
Treats don't get any easier or guilt-free than this refreshing one ingredient {chocolate milk} ice cream. In soft-serve form it reminds my family of a Wendy's frosty yet when completely frozen it still forms into nice ice cream scoops.
I used a combination of cocoa powder and semi-sweet chocolate chips which resulted in a mellow chocolate flavor, perfect for my Neapolitan ice cream. But the best part about homemade chocolate ice cream is that you can use your favorite chocolate: milk chocolate, dark chocolate or any other specialty chocolate.
This year we kicked off summer with strawberry ice cream. In addition to our inaugural strawberry shortcake, we transformed some of the juicy red berries from the berry patch into a sweet and refreshing frozen treat.
If you're searching for a quick yet festive dessert for a {belated} Father's Day, the College World Series, a baseball team party or any other baseball-themed party, look no further. These Baseball Brownies à la Mode are perfect for any baseball fan and the combo of chocolate cake or brownies, vanilla ice cream and raspberry jam is a homerun.
I had some some beautiful pink peppermint ice cream so I decided to transform it into little ice cream cakes for a Valentine's Day treat. In miniature form these cakes are basically ice cream sandwiches with cake instead of cookies for the crust.
Peppermint ice cream has a reputation of being a Christmas flavor but it doesn't have to be reserved for the winter holidays. Its beautiful pink color is just right for Valentine's Day and its cool peppermint flavor makes it a refreshing choice when you're trying to beat the summer heat.
HO! HO! HO! and Merry Christmas from my itsy bitsy foodies family to yours. This is the first year that my older son has really keyed into Santa Claus so I thought it would be fun to make him a Santa Claus ice cream sundae.
Stracciatella was the perfect flavor for my trial of making ice cream without a machine. To mix it up, I used Nutella as the chocolate source not only because Nutella Stracciatella has such a nice ring to it but also because my Nutella-loving niece was visiting.
