For Valentine’s Day give your someone special heart sugar cookies that are made and decorated with love {and yummy buttercream frosting!}. Your kids can also have fun decorating them for Valentine’s treats. I used my recipe for Old-Fashioned Soft Sugar Cookies for soft, melt-in-your-mouth cookies but the Puffy Sugar Cookies are soft and puffy and just as good.
Valentine Heart Sugar Cookies |
- Sugar cookies, baked in heart shapes
- Buttercream frosting
- Red food coloring *{or beet juice}
- Sprinkles
- Divide the frosting into separate bowls, leaving some white and coloring the others red, pink and other colors of your choice.
- I used Wilton icing bags and tips to decorate my hearts, using white Sugar Pearls as accents.
- If you or your kids prefer, you can simply spread the icing with a table knife.
