Chocolate Cake with Buttercream Frosting 

This basic buttercream frosting is the perfect topping for any cake, cookie, cupcake or cinnamon roll!  Leave it white or color it to match any theme.  Beyond its incredible sweet, buttery taste it is easy to work with and can be piped or spread with a knife.

This buttercream frosting is the perfect topping to any cake, cookies or pastries.
  • 3 ¾ cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 Tbsp milk
  1. Mix the ingredients and beat for several minutes until a smooth, creamy frosting forms.
  2. Add food coloring if desired. {Using food coloring will affect the consistency of the frosting so you can add more powdered sugar as needed.}
  3. For chocolate frosting, add ½ cup Hershey cocoa powder.
