This trendy salad is easy to make at home and can turn a normal meal into something a little bit more gourmet. Even if you're not a blue cheese fan the combo of apples and/or pears and nuts is refreshing and can be paired with many other cheeses.
Oatmeal is quick, satisfying and full of fiber and other nutrients. Making oatmeal with old-fashioned, whole-grain oats instead of the instant packets really doesn't take much time and allows you to control the amount of added sugar that you consume. We usually eat our oatmeal topped with frozen blueberries, banana slices and brown sugar but I recently had the urge to make apple-cinnamon oatmeal, inspired by one of the traditional instant oatmeal packet flavors.
These little pastry muffins filled with applesauce are like a cross between apple pie and apple cake. They are perfect for a sweet breakfast or an afternoon snack. I like to serve them warm, fresh from the oven.
Homemade applesauce is easy to make and so much better than the stuff you buy at the store. Plus, when you make it yourself you can control how much sugar is added.
With the arrival of fall, it's time for caramel apples. They are easy to make and everyone in the family can get involved. Leave them plain or dip them in chopped Heath toffee bar, chopped peanuts, or any other sweet of your choice.
One of the best parts about this pie (besides the large tender chunks of cinnamon-sugar apple baked under a melt-in-your-mouth streusel topping) is the incredibly easy pat-in-the-pan pie crust. Don't fuss with rolling out the pie crust; simply mix the dough and press it into the pan.
