Raspberry Lemonade Coconut Macaroon Tartlets

These raspberry lemonade tartlets are perfect for Mother’s Day or any other spring brunch. The beautiful pink color is reminiscent of flowers and the shade of pink can be adjusted by changing the ratio of raspberry juice and lemon juice.

Homemade Easter Peeps with Naturally-Dyed Sugar Sprinkles

This year we took our Homemade Easter Peeps to a new level by making our own sugar sprinkles with natural dyes. I used the same homemade marshmallow recipe and dusted the bunny cut-outs in homemade {naturally-dyed} sugar sprinkles.

Mardi Gras King Cake

Traditions and customs are plenty when it comes to the King Cake. I made a cake that is more in line with those found in the Southeast United States, centering around the New Orleans Mardi Gras festivities. I used natural food dyes {spinach green, blueberry purple and pineapple gold} to decorate my cinnamon-roll King Cake with the iconic Mardi Gras colors.

Seahawks Layer Cake with Natural Dyes

My color choice for this naturally-dyed layer cake obviously reveals who I’ll be rooting for but I’ll give you Broncos fans a little hint: you can have your {blue and orange} cake and eat it, too, if you simply use carrot juice instead of spinach juice.

One-Ingredient Eggnog Ice Cream

This one-ingredient eggnog ice cream is much quicker and healthier than a custard-based eggnog ice cream. In under 30 minutes (or the time it takes to churn the ice cream), you can have a creamy, not-too-sweet frozen treat made with low-fat eggnog.

Sugared Cranberries

These sparkling sugared cranberries are simple to make and can be used in so many ways: as a garnish for desserts and beverages, as gifts, and as sweet snacks, to name a few. A couple of them dropped in each champagne glass made our Christmas cranberry mimosas beautiful and festive.

Almond Poppy Seed Ice Cream

I have a love affair with almond, and I have a natural weakness for ice cream in general, so it goes without saying that I couldn’t stop sneaking spoonfuls of this simple yet intoxicatingly-almond ice cream. I used my French Vanilla Ice Cream recipe, substituting almond extract for the vanilla, and adding poppy seeds for some visual flair.

Snickerdoodle Ice Cream Sandwiches

Cinnamon-sugar is a favorite comfort combo for me. It was a logical step to up the comfort and sandwich my cinnamon {snickerdoodle} ice cream between soft & chewy snickerdoodle cookies.
