Seared Ahi Tuna
Print This Recipe
We have always loved seared ahi tuna but we thought it was something we could only eat at restaurants. That was until this past Thanksgiving when we were in Hawaii and our neighbor taught us how to sear ahi tuna, just like the restaurants do it. The trick is to heat the grill to 550-600 degrees. If you like it rare, cook the ahi steaks for no more than 1 minute on each side. For medium, no more than 1.5 minutes on each side. Make sure to ask for sushi-grade tuna at your fish market.
Ingredients
1 lb ahi tuna steaks
Coat the outside of the ahi tuna steaks with black pepper, sea salt and sesame seeds, preferably black.
Heat the grill to 550-600 degrees. If you like it rare, cook the ahi steaks for no more than 1 minute on each side. For medium, no more than 1.5 minutes on each side. Slice and serve with the sauce of your choice. For a main dish, serve with vegetables and rice.
