Limpa bread is a traditional Swedish rye bread that is flavored with anise seed, molasses and sometimes orange. When I was little, my family was lucky enough to have a friend who would bake us this bread on occasion, introducing me to its rich, intoxicating flavor.

This gingerbread can come in the form of cupcakes, mini cupcakes, or a 9x13 loaf. It is yummy plain but I love the addition of the cream cheese frosting.

These gingersnaps are great served alone or with vanilla ice cream. They also make incredible ice cream sandwiches.
