In my opinion, summer officially starts with the first u-pick strawberries of the year. And with the first strawberries, some version of strawberry shortcake is always quick to follow. This summer we kicked it off with strawberry shortcake waffles the morning after our u-pick adventure. But to be honest, the waffles are really just a vehicle to get the sweet, juicy berries and cream into your mouth.
Chocolate and hearts, a quintessential Valentine's Day treat. With the big day quickly approaching I wanted to make a special breakfast. Chocolate waffles topped with homemade whipped cream and strawberry hearts did the trick.
I'm watching the snow continue to fall as we gear up for another fun day of skiing, sledding and tromping around the neighborhood. But first, we are savoring our morning waffles. Though it's technically not a holiday, it sure does feel like a mini vacation around here.
I LOVE oatmeal so I was excited at the opportunity to sample a selection of Better Oats instant oatmeal and create a recipe. As I enter the pre-school years and realize that I am now responsible for getting three people ready and out the door in the morning, I was intrigued by Better Oats which promises quick instant oatmeal in tasty flavors while still offering 100% whole grain, added flax seeds, real fruit and all the other health benefits of whole oats.
Celebrate peach season with a special breakfast {or dessert}: peaches and cream waffles. Sweet, juicy peaches and homemade whipped cream is a match made in heaven. Enjoy these waffles while you can because you'll have to wait until next summer to have them again.
These yeast-leavened waffles are light and chewy and have the delicate aroma of fresh-baked bread. Serve them with the toppings of your choice.
