Though a thin crust may seem like just a vehicle for the toppings, this flat bread {flavored with spinach, garlic and feta} is actually very tasty on its own or as a simple cheese and/or pesto breadstick. Traditions and customs are plenty when it comes to the King Cake. I made a cake that is more in line with those found in the Southeast United States, centering around the New Orleans Mardi Gras festivities. I used natural food dyes {spinach green, blueberry purple and pineapple gold} to decorate my cinnamon-roll King Cake with the iconic Mardi Gras colors.

It’s a hot cocoa {with marshmallows} kind of snow day. If my boys could have their way, every day would be a hot chocolate kind of day. But today was special because we took part in the age-old ritual of playing in the snow until we couldn’t feel our toes and then warming up by wrapping our hands around a mug of steaming hot chocolate.
