I had some some beautiful pink peppermint ice cream so I decided to transform it into little ice cream cakes for a Valentine’s Day treat. In miniature form these cakes are basically ice cream sandwiches with cake instead of cookies for the crust.
This roasted tomato bisque is creamy and comforting without being unbearably rich. The swirl of chipotle cream adds some visual pizazz and a subtle smoky and spicy flair that will entice your taste buds.
Mickey Mouse and his Clubhouse gang were the centerpiece of the dessert table at my son’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 3rd birthday party. Instead of trying to exactly duplicate the Clubhouse characters with detailed fondant and icing techniques I wanted to highlight certain iconic features of each personality to make simple yet recognizable characters.
Make snowmen out of peanut butter snack balls for an easy, healthy and fun snack that will give your kids the energy they need to play all day in the snow.
Despite its name, German chocolate cake does not come from Germany. It was invented in the US back in the mid-1800’s by Sam German who developed a type of dark baking chocolate used in the cake. It is typically served as a three-layer cake but they make adorable little cupcakes.
These little bite-sized pecan pies are one of my absolute favorites. They are a festive addition and will provide some visual variety to any dessert spread or cookie platter.
Squash and pumpkins make eye-catching soup tureens, adding a rustic touch to the tabletop that can’t be recreated with any store-bought ceramic bowls. You can use the squash and soup of your choice. I found that lentil soup and acorn squash pair nicely together for a hearty, warming and healthy meal that is perfect for chilly days.
Bagels, specifically pumpkin bagels, have been on my baking list for a long time now. I decided that it was finally time to tackle bagels this fall in part because I was having some serious cravings for pumpkin bagels with the arrival of autumn and in part because my son is at a stage where he loves kneading and making things with dough.
Though chocolate and avocado seem an unlikely pair, they share some rich, comforting qualities and make a surprisingly good match in this chocolate avocado cake.
I wanted to be able to enjoy the zucchinis that are in season {and get my son to eat the healthy green veggie} without also consuming an abundance of butter or oil. So I made zucchini bread with low-fat yogurt instead of oil. Between the grated zucchini and the yogurt the bread was incredibly moist and my family didn’t miss the oil at all.
