I love the coconut macaroon tart shells so much that I decided to fill them with a simple combo of sliced strawberries and homemade whipped cream. They are light, refreshing, and offer an alternative to strawberry shortcake when strawberries are in season.
This strawberries & cream layer cake looks complicated but it is surprisingly simple to make. It is essentially a form of strawberry shortcake presented in layers.
This pound cake is moist and has a rich vanilla flavor. Serve it plain or topped with a powdered sugar glaze. It is also excellent with chocolate fondue or strawberry shortcake!
Chocolate-covered strawberries have always been one of my favorite desserts. They are sweet, light and refreshing. This is the perfect time of year to make them because strawberries are in season. Get your kids involved by taking them to a strawberry U-pick and then letting them decorate their own strawberries.
These banana bars could be the best thing banana that I have ever eaten. They are not too sweet and have a delicate banana flavor. The cream cheese frosting adds a light creamy sweetness and definitely makes them a dessert. But we loved them without frosting, too.
This recipe comes from my good friend, Milena, in Germany. Similar to crêpes, German pancakes are large and thin and can be used for both sweet and savory dishes. When I made these recently for breakfast, I made the sweeter version and added grated apples and blueberries to some of the pancakes.
S’more cookies are rich, gooey and easy to make. They are a fun twist on a classic campfire treat. Make the s’mores with the cookie of your choice. Once you try one, you’ll be asking for…s’more.
One of my favorite candies is Andes Chocolate Mints. With this recipe, you can leave the mint frosting white but I like to color it green so that it looks like Andes mints. (And the touch of green gets you out of being pinched on St. Paddy’s Day!)
Dutch babies take me back to my childhood summers at the lake. We always ate these puffy pancakes with fresh berry butter, syrup and powdered sugar but you can use any other toppings.
You can’t go wrong with soft and chewy peanut butter cookies topped with a chocolate kiss. These cookies are great for parties and gifts because they look festive and yet they’re easy to make.
