I'm watching the snow continue to fall as we gear up for another fun day of skiing, sledding and tromping around the neighborhood. But first, we are savoring our morning waffles. Though it's technically not a holiday, it sure does feel like a mini vacation around here.
These healthy chocolate banana oat bars {homemade energy bars} taste just like the moist chocolate banana cookies that my mom always made for my sister and me. Wishing all of you mommies a Happy Mother's Day!
This PB&J parfait transforms one of my favorites - a peanut butter & jam sandwich - into a parfait that triples as a hearty breakfast, healthy snack and wholesome dessert. The options for pb&j combos are endless with different fruit and granola toppings.
Instead of mixing berries throughout these muffins I dollop raspberry freezer jam in between layers of batter to make a sweet berry swirl on the top of each banana oatmeal muffin.
With or without silly faces, these fruit and spinach smoothies make a quick, healthy and kid-pleasing breakfast, snack or dessert.
Substituting low-fat yogurt for the shortening in my family's classic banana bread recipe makes for a healthier banana bread that is still moist and flavorful.
My family loves banana bread and the recipe that I grew up with is a classic that we never get tired of. Sometimes I stir in some chocolate chips to make it extra special.
Now that I'm hooked on banana "ice cream" (an easy, creamy frozen dessert simply made of bananas) I decided to try adding chocolate, which is never a bad decision, in my opinion.
Could it be that bananas are the only ingredient in this frozen treat and yet it has the creamy texture of traditional ice cream? Unbelievably, yes! It is so easy to make (you don't even need an ice cream maker). And I love the fact that when my son now screams for ice cream, I can give him this -- an elegant form of frozen bananas.
For every banana split recipe submitted by a Featured Publisher, Foodbuzz will donate $50 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (up to $5,000). What a great excuse to make a banana split! In my rendition of this classic sundae, a chocolate- and coconut-covered banana sandwiches three scoops of vanilla bean ice cream, Heath toffee chocolate sauce, shredded coconut, whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.
