When thinking about {Puro Fairtrade} Coffee, one of the first things that came to mind was coffee cake, and specifically, Herman Cake. This cinnamon-swirled {friendship} cake is ultimately topped with a buttery caramel sauce and can easily pass as a dessert.
Traditions and customs are plenty when it comes to the King Cake. I made a cake that is more in line with those found in the Southeast United States, centering around the New Orleans Mardi Gras festivities. I used natural food dyes {spinach green, blueberry purple and pineapple gold} to decorate my cinnamon-roll King Cake with the iconic Mardi Gras colors.
